MP Minister says public cooperation is necessary for building smart cities
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Urban Development and Environment Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya today said that public cooperation and awareness is necessary for building Smart Cities.
Vijaywargiya was addressing a special convention on the theme “Development of Smart City-Next Gen Citizen” here today.
Former Union Secretary Urban Development Dr. Sudhir Krishna and Commissioner Urban Development Sanjay Shukla were also present on the occasion. The convention was organised by MP Post, Urban Development & Environment Department, Governance Now (Sab TV Group) and MPSEDC-Information Technology Department.
Vijayvargiya said that the concept of Smart City depends on socio-economic background of country. In a country like India, cities should be developed in a democratic manner.
Krishna said that development of smart city should not be considered as a difficult task and the framework of smart cities should be chalked out as per guidelines of Central government and consultation with experts.
The state Commissioner Urban Development said that Madhya Pradesh has large number of small cites and his Department has brought all cities under its ambit and the process for giving various permissions has been simplified. Urban administration expert Richard Slater and Director of Governance Now Kailash Adhikari also spoke on the occasion.
State Secretary IT Hariranjan Rao, who addressed the concluding session (Digital Madhya Pradesh Summit), threw light on the concept of Digital India and steps being taken to build digital MP.
MP Post’s Director Sarman Nagele proposed a vote of thanks. SSP’s Director Industries Subroto Das and Deputy City Manager of Lawasa Corporation Satish Kamath threw light on the Smart City Project.
