New Delhi, Feb. 10: The voters, cutting across community, class and caste barriers, have rejected the BJP lock stock and barrel in Delhi. The Aam Aadmi Party juggernaut took early lead as counting progressed for the Delhi Assembly elections and was heading for a landslide victory.
On AAP’s resounding success, party chief Arvind Kejriwal said “it is victory of truth and honesty”. Both BJP and Congress have suffered defeat because of their arrogance. We have to serve the people of Delhi, he said thanking the voters for their overwhelming support.
We have brought back the spirit of voluntarism. With this kind of a big victory comes lot of expectation and responsibility,..we have a lot to deliver. We need to put in the kind of work we have done in Delhi elsewhere and we do not have that kind of organisational depth across the country…we have a long way to go when it comes to national politics.-YogendraYadav

Political observers have described the election outcome as a total rejection of the BJP leadership at the national level. One of them said the Delhi voters have given Arvind Kejriwal a bigger mandate than what the country gave to Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha election. As the counting was half-way through, it was a total rout for BJP and Congress and AAP had registered a historic vote share–which is more than 50 per cent of the popular vote. Last time its vote share was 29 per cent.
One clear message of this election is that people are tired of leaders who want to be larger than life and try to project themselves as rockstars…..people want leaders who are one of them.
Updated at 12.55 pm. BJP’s chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi has lost.
I want to begin by thanking the BJP leadership which inspired me to join and take up the responsibility (to be the chief ministerial candidate)…the kind of trust they reposed in me. They did not take a rupee from me for contesting the election. I am an open book…..we were in alignment in value system. I apologize to the BJP leaders and party workers that I could not fulfill the responsibility given to me….I have not lost…let the BJP introspect…I am a member of BJP. The Prime Minister was not the chief ministerial candidate,..I take repsonsibility–Kiran Bedi
Bedi congratulated Kejriwal and expressed the hope that the Delhi government under his leadership will give us a world class city..a clean city without the the huge divide between the rich and poor
