CM launches Friends of MP website
New York City, Feb. 1: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s six day US visit began with formal meetings with Indian Consul-General Dnyaneshwar M. Mulay, non resident Indians belonging to Madhya Pradesh and potential US investors.
The Consul-General hosted a dinner at the Indian Consulate here in honour of the visiting chief minister. Addressing a gathering of nearly 150 guests, the chief minister praised the contributions of US-based investors, particularly NRIs belonging to Madhya Pradesh. Describing their contributions as important, he also said that investment, expertise and friendship are the key components of development.
Referring to the “Make in India campaign”, the pet project of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the chief minister underlined the fact that Madhya Pradesh has been following the spirit of this campaign for the past one decade. He said that the State has taken a lead role in implementing another ambitious scheme– the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana.
Mr. Chouhan said that people-oriented programmes are already underway in Madhya Pradesh, He said that good governance is the key to fast development. He also listed impressive achievements in key areas in Madhya Pradesh.
Talking about strategic measures for attracting investments, Mr.Chouhan said that he holds meetings with potential investors every Monday to facilitate business.
Referring to the single-window system, the Chief Minister said that Madhya Pradesh has now put in place a more effective “single door” system, making it easier for prospective investors. He received a standing ovation from the guests. The Consul-General informed the gathering that about 3,000 friends have already registered themselves for the Friends of Madhya Pradesh conclave.

Speaking at a special function for the global launch of the first of its kind initiative www.friendsofmp.com – a global talent pool platform being developed by any state across India at Lincoln Center here today, the chief minister addressed the Indian Americans and said; “You have made a place for yourself and contributed immensely in the progress and growth of America. We are proud of you. he said and specially recalled the contributions of Hargobind Khurana, Kalpana Chawla, Indra Nooyi, Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of PepsiCo, Satya Nadella, Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft, Richard Rahul Verma, US Ambassador ot India, Vivek Murthy, Surgeon General of the United States.
Mr. Chouhan said: “India is changing…this is true..after a long time, we have a Prime Minister in whom all Indians have faith. In the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, there is a new confidence in the country…there is no policy paralysis. decisions are being taken rapidly. India’s prestige has increased.”
The Chief Minister recalled Prime Minister’s foreign visits to Bhutan, America, and Australia–In India prices are now falling and share market is surging. Earlier there were group of ministers but no decisions were being taken…now every day decisions are being taken..
The chief minister said, we have recorded 11.08 per cent growth rate. Last year we had 20 per cent and this year 24.99 per cent agricutural growth, which is a a record in the country. We are supplying round-the-clock electricity. Education and health care is now free in MP. In the social sector, we have ensured the girl child is looked by all as a blessing. I am not just the CM but the CEO of Madhya Pradesh, he said and asked the investors to come to the State. “We will offer you not just a single window but open the doors for you. We have a land bank and uninterrupted power for you. Become friends of Madhya Pradesh,” he said adding “I have come with open arms to offer my hand of friendship.”
The chief minister reminded the audience of Swami Vivekanand and said he talked of eliminating darkness and Mr Modi is now turning that into reality. Mr Modi is emerging as a world leader. Mr. Modi’s slogan is “Come Make in India” and we are saying come make in Madhya Pradesh. What a great reception Mr. Modi got when he came here. This was followed by Mr. Obama’s India visit…the relations between our two countries are now deeper than ever before, the chief minister observed and threw light on the “Modi-Obama chemistry”…if our two nations become one for a common goal, we can serve the suffering humanity, he said and talked of the Civil Nuclear agreement, Defence ties and said we will work on our own and also take help from the USA and the same should be true for the US as well.It is the beginning of a new era of Indo-US relationship, Mr. Chouhan emphasised.
The chief minister was loudly cheered when he drew attention to the 5000 years of history–the Vedas, Upanishads, the Gita and its message. The audience appreciated when he said “Ekam Sat Vipra Bahudha Vadanti“..(truth is one but, people describe it differently).
The website friendsofmp.com projects MP at a glance and introduces the culture, history and the state government’s vision 2018.
FRIENDS OF MP INITIATIVE
Describing the Friends of MP initiative for the purpose of creating a “Global Talent Pool’ in Madhya Pradesh, the website has a full page that talks of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his vision of setting up a global talent pool for each state. This talent pool will comprise of network of its talents wherever in the world they may be, and utilize their experience and talent for country’s development.
Following the vision as laid by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Madhya Pradesh has taken a concrete step in creating this global talent pool – “Friends of MP”. The Government of Madhya Pradesh built this web portal (www.friendsofmp.com) on the fundamental values of people’s participation for the well-being of MP. This initiative connects Madhya Pradesh-origin persons living abroad and out of the state with its homeland. It also helps the state government to identify the friends of MP and utilize their skills, talent and experience to further the growth of Madhya Pradesh.
