Bhopal, Jan. 30: Dismissed IAS officer Tinoo Joshi, who was on judicial remand in connection with a case relating to amassing of assets and wealth disproportionate to known sources of income was granted bail by the Jabalpur High Court today.
Ms. Joshi’s lawyer Pratulya Shandilya had filed the application in the court of Justice GS Solanki citing her health condition as the reason for granting interim bail. Ms. Joshi was required to be produced in Bhopal district court today on remand but she was not brought to court as the police force required for this purpose had been diverted for election duty linked with the Bhopal municipal elections.
Ms. Joshi, who was absconding for a long time, had surrendered in Bhopal court on January 13. Her Husband, dismissed IAS officer Arvind Joshi along with two others accused in this case, is absconding.
Income Tax department’s raid at their official residence here in February 2010 had led to the seizure of over Rs. 3 crore in cash and documents indicating amassing of assets and properties to the tune of a few hundred crores.
In December 2010, the Special Police Establishment of Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta had also raided the residence of Arvind and Tinu Joshi in the State capital. Mr. Joshi, who was principal Secretary Jail and Ms. Joshi Principal Secretary Women and Child Development, were earlier placed under suspension by the State Government. In the last week of April 2012, the State Government had sought the couple’s dismissal. They were sacked from service by Government of India in July 2014.
