Madhya Pradesh to develop Smart Cities in PPP mode

Indore, Jan. 28: Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary Anthony de Sa has said that cooperation will be sought from the British government, Siemens, Sysco, DFID and other organisations for development of Smart Cities in Madhya Pradesh.
Smart Cities will also be developed under PPP mode, Mr. de Sa announced at an international workshop for development of Smart Cities in Madhya Pradesh organised jointly by Madhya Pradesh and British government at Indian Institute of Management here today.
Addressing the workshop, the Chief Secretary said that Madhya Pradesh is preparing keeping in view Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement for development of 100 Smart Cities in the country. An action plan for this is being chalked out with the cooperation of Britain, he added
The Chief Secretary said that seminars will be organised to develop Smart Cities identified under state’s Vision Document-2018. Old cities will also be transformed into Smart Cityies.
Director General of DFID David Kennedy said that Smart Cities are vital for economic development of cities. Commercial activities, employment opportunities and economic development will be boosted with investment in Smart Cities.
Marshall Elliott, Richard Plaster of Britain and several Madhya Pradesh govenrment officers attended the workshop.
