Harishankar Brahma assumes office as Chief Election Commissioner

Harishankar BrahmaNew Delhi Jan 15: Harishankar Brahma is the new Chief Election Commissioner of India. He formally assumed office consequent upon demitting the Office of the Chief Election Commissioner by V.S. Sampath.
The President appointed Mr. Bramha, the senior- most Election Commissioner in the Election Commission of India as the new Chief Election Commissioner yesterday.  Mr. Brahma, a 1975 IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre hails from Assam.
