Drug trafficker arrested in Delhi, 1 kg heroin seized
New Delhi, Jan. 6: Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested one drug trafficker identified as Javed alias Sanu and seized from his possession one Kg of fine quality heroin. The value of the recovered heroin is approximately Rs. 1 crore in the international market.
On January 1, SI Karamveer was told by a police informer that one Javed, a resident of Mandoli, who was involved in drug trafficking activities was coming to the Bus stand near Lalita Park in Delhi to deliver a consignment of heroin to someone that afternoon. A trap was laid by a team of officers of the Narcotics Cell led by Inspector Vivek Pathak. The team included Karamveer, Head contables Kamal, Mahesh Kumar and constable Sudhir. They were under the close supervision of ACP Ravinder Kumar Tyagi an doverall guidance of Rajan Bhagat.’
They were successful in nabbing the drug trafficker at the Bus Stand. One Kg of fine quality heroin was recovered from him. A case (FIR No. 2/15 under section 21 of NDPS Act was registered against him on January 3 and the accused has been arrested in this case.
During interrogation, it has been revealed that the accused hails from Chishti Nagar, Ferozabad,Uttar Pradesh. His father was a teacher in Ferozabad. He has three brothers and two sisters. He is an undergraduate and had came to Delhi about 20 years ago. He initially stayed at Khajuri Khas and started selling bangles in various parts of Delhi. One drug addict namely Kamal also used to reside in the same house with him. He became a drug addict and died. Javed started living with the family of Kamal and married his widow. In 2002, he met a drug peddlar Roopram of Bareilly and on his instigation, got into the drug trafficking racket. He was earlier arrested by PS Narcotics Branch, Delhi. After coming out of jail, he remained in touch with many police officers and started working as a police informer but later began selling heroin using his position as a police informer. He has claimed that he was procuring heroin from drug traffickers of Uttar Pradesh.
