Bhopal, Jan. 5: Two Madhya Pradesh police officers were killed this afternoon in a shootout in Tikamgarh district. Prithvipur police station’sTI Pramod Chaturvedi killed SDOP Malik in his office by shooting him with his service revolver from point blank range. He then shot himself dead.
The State Director general of Police Surendra Sinh has ordered a CID probe into this incident, State Home Minister Babulal Gaur denied that work pressure had led to the gruesome incident. The alleged cause of this incident is said to be a raid on a gambling racket recently. The incident raises questions: Are we in the central Indian State of Madhya Pradesh or the wild West associated with the gold rush in America during the 19th Century? The Tikamgarh shootout–is it not a manifestation of the rapidly spreading cancer of corruption in the state?
